These pieces stem from my desire to activate a sense of wonder through the processes of growth and decay. The pieces all call for some kind of action. This could be simply the passage of time or it could be human or environmental intervention.
Setting up small experiments allows me tap into the same thrill of discovery that I feel when I discover a bizarre fungus on the forest floor or an unbelievable creature on the flats at low tide. I like knowing that this kind of discovery is possible in the woods and in the studio.
